THE EPSTEIN FILES / THE REMOVED PASSAGES
What was blacked out.
The text, with the document and page beside it.
25 PDF pairs checked · 24 new visible redactions · 1 unredaction.
These passages were visible in the earlier PDF and newly covered in the current PDF. Transcripts retain source OCR errors where noted. Personal details stay protected; pre-existing black bars cannot be recovered.
What is included
Every one of the original 25 ranked pages was checked against both independently obtained PDFs and both rendered pages. One page is less redacted in the current version. Two others were assigned misleading topic signals: a medical use of “immunity” and a personal scheduling message. These corrections remain in the review.
The full source inventory contains 165,807 units labeled content removal, redaction or mixed changes. It includes 37,030 redaction-labeled units. A text difference can arise from OCR and is not automatically a visible blackout. Every source record is accounted for, including protected personal material and units with no recoverable text.
Unreviewed excerpts are subject to conservative document/label exclusions, local name masking and identifier protection. Automated screening can be mistaken. Confirmed text and all source candidates are separate views. Financial narratives record a bank’s suspicions and explanations, not adjudicated findings; qualifying language is retained.
Source OCR can miss characters or contain mistakes. Short manual transcriptions are identified. Sage masks in the hosted comparisons are this site’s privacy edits. Black bars in the current source are DOJ redactions. The earlier archive capture dates and exact change dates are unknown.
